The Macallan Smooth Arabica | 700ml | Harmony Collection
Catalogue Preview
A travel retail Macallan shaped around coffee, roasted nuts, vanilla and sweet dried fruit.
Overview
The Macallan Harmony Collection Smooth Arabica is the travel retail counterpart to Inspired by Intense Arabica and the second release in the limited annual Harmony Collection.
Created by Whisky Maker Steven Bremner, the expression was inspired by Ethiopian Arabica coffee and developed to explore the shared aromatic language of single malt whisky and roasted coffee.
The Spirit
Smooth Arabica is a non-age-statement Speyside single malt bottled at 40% ABV. Its character was selected around softer coffee-associated notes, with ground coffee, hazelnut, sweet raisin and vanilla forming the central profile.
The whisky carries a natural toffee colour. Its precise cask composition is not detailed on the current official product page, so no unsupported maturation breakdown has been applied here.
Why It Matters
Smooth Arabica forms one half of the Harmony Collection’s second chapter, which examined coffee through two related but stylistically distinct Macallan releases. Its travel retail positioning separates it from Inspired by Intense Arabica while retaining the same broader collaboration and sensory study.
The presentation is also integral to the release. Discarded coffee bean husks were incorporated into the recycled and repurposed material used for the label and presentation box, while the green packaging references the colour of unroasted coffee beans.
Serving & Context
Serve neat initially and allow several minutes in the glass for the coffee, raisin, hazelnut and vanilla notes to settle.
At 40% ABV, water is not required. The whisky may also be considered alongside lightly roasted coffee, where the pairing does not obscure the spirit’s softer dried-fruit character.
Availability Note
Smooth Arabica was issued as a limited travel retail expression and is now classified within The Macallan’s archived Harmony Collection releases.
Remaining bottles may circulate through specialist whisky merchants, auction channels and private collections.
