Lark Symphony No.1 | 500ml
Catalogue Preview
A Tasmanian blended malt combining bourbon, sherry and Port cask influences with tropical fruit and citrus.
Overview
Lark Symphony No.1 is a Tasmanian blended malt created from three single malt whiskies. The expression was composed by Head Distiller Chris Thomson to present Lark’s house style through layered fruit, sweetness and texture.
The Spirit
Symphony No.1 combines Tasmanian single malts matured across American oak bourbon, sherry and Port casks. The bourbon cask component contributes vanilla and tropical fruit, while sherry and Port casks provide balance, fruit depth and a fuller mouthfeel. It is bottled at 40.2% ABV and is available in 500ml and 100ml formats.
The nose carries fresh mango, toasted pineapple, orange, vanilla and tangerine. Peaches, apricot, further mango and Tasmanian apple with toffee develop across the palate, leading into a fresh fruit and citrus-led finish.
Why It Matters
Symphony No.1 demonstrates the role of blending within contemporary Australian malt whisky. Rather than presenting a single cask or single maturation profile, it brings together three Tasmanian single malts to create consistency, balance and a broader range of flavour.
Its use of bourbon, sherry and Port cask components also reflects Lark’s established approach to combining American oak sweetness with fortified-wine cask richness.
Serving & Context
Serve neat initially and allow several minutes in the glass for the tropical fruit, vanilla and toffee notes to develop.
Its approachable bottling strength generally requires no water, although a few drops may reveal further citrus and orchard fruit.
Availability Note
Lark Symphony No.1 remains part of the distillery’s current range and is available directly from Lark and selected specialist merchants. Availability, bottle format and packaging may vary by retailer and release period.
