A thirty-year-old Highland single malt combining Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and Amontillado casks with mature fruit, nuts and chocolate.

Overview

The Glendronach Aged 30 Years is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from the distillery’s flagship age-stated range. Matured for more than three decades, it combines the distillery’s established Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry-cask style with selected Amontillado casks, introducing a third sherry influence to the composition.

The Spirit

The whisky is matured in a combination of Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and selected Amontillado sherry casks, brought together under Master Blender Rachel Barrie. The distillery presents the whisky at natural cask-imparted colour, with a dark cherry-walnut appearance.

Morello cherry, raisin and spiced Brazil-nut toffee lead the nose, followed by marzipan and Medjool-date caramel. The palate develops glazed cherry, sultana cake, cinnamon-raisin nut toffee and chocolate-hazelnut café crème, with the extended maturation providing a broad, enveloping texture and sustained oak structure.

Why It Matters

The Glendronach 30 Year Old develops the distillery’s traditional sherry-led profile through both extended maturation and a broader cask composition. While Oloroso contributes nuttiness, spice and oxidative depth, Pedro Ximénez brings richer dried-fruit sweetness. The inclusion of Amontillado adds a drier, more aromatic and nut-driven dimension.

Its position within the flagship range also makes it an important reference point for the progression of The Glendronach house style. At thirty years, the interaction between spirit and sherry-seasoned oak moves beyond straightforward fruit sweetness towards marzipan, nuts, cocoa, caramel and mature wood complexity.

Serving & Context

Serve neat and allow substantial time in the glass for the fruit, nuts, chocolate and mature oak to develop. Water is optional and should be introduced sparingly if desired, allowing the darker fruit and aromatic sherry character to remain intact.

Availability Note

The Glendronach Aged 30 Years forms part of the distillery’s current flagship portfolio. As a long-aged expression assembled from mature Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez and Amontillado casks, availability is expected to be more limited than younger core-range bottlings and may vary considerably by market.
