Why Collections Matter
Great bottles carry more than flavour, they carry time, place and intention.
We believe collections are a reflection of their owner. Our role is to honour that legacy by representing the bottles with the respect, research and discretion they deserve.
For members, this means access to extraordinary bottles, backed by insight and confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Member Collections is a curated presentation of significant bottles and collections held by members of Cloakroom Reserve.
The purpose is to document and share noteworthy spirits, wines and related pieces with appropriate context, provenance and discretion. It is not intended to operate as a conventional retail catalogue.
-
Not necessarily.
Some pieces are presented purely as part of a member's collection, while a member may be open to considering an enquiry regarding others. Where appropriate, Cloakroom Reserve can discreetly present a genuine expression of interest to the current owner.
An enquiry should not be interpreted as confirmation that an item is available for purchase.
-
Yes. An Enquire option is available on individual collection pages.
Tell us which piece interests you and, where appropriate, Cloakroom Reserve will contact the member privately. We will not disclose a member's identity or contact information without their permission.
-
Generally, no.
Member Collections is designed around the bottle, its provenance and its place within the collection rather than a displayed asking price. Where a member is prepared to consider a transfer, any discussion regarding price will generally take place privately following an enquiry.
-
Cloakroom Reserve will review the enquiry before approaching the member. Where there is genuine interest and the member is open to a discussion, we may facilitate a private introduction or manage the conversation on their behalf.
The member remains under no obligation to sell, negotiate or respond to an offer.
-
Not necessarily.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, items appearing within Member Collections remain the property of the respective member. Cloakroom Reserve may act as an intermediary, agent or facilitator where a member wishes to consider an enquiry.
-
We take provenance seriously and seek to document each piece using the information and supporting material reasonably available to us.
This can include original invoices, presentation cases, certificates, correspondence, photographs, acquisition history and, in some instances, first-hand knowledge of the original placement.
However, information relating to older and secondary-market bottles can sometimes be incomplete. Descriptions are therefore prepared in good faith based on the information available at the time and should be read together with our applicable Terms & Conditions.
-
Where practical and appropriate, inspection may be arranged by agreement.
For particularly significant or historic pieces, Cloakroom Reserve may also recommend additional authentication, condition assessment or supporting documentation before a transaction is completed.
-
Discretion is a core principle of Cloakroom Reserve.
Member identities, collection details and personal information are not disclosed beyond what is reasonably required to facilitate an authorised enquiry or transaction. Likewise, we expect prospective purchasers to respect the privacy of participating members.
-
Member Collections is curated rather than an open marketplace.
Cloakroom Reserve may work with members to document an individual bottle, a particular part of a cellar or a broader collection where we believe it is appropriate for the platform. Presentation is considered individually, with an emphasis on provenance, significance and the story of the collection.
-
Because a collection is more than an inventory.
Member Collections exists to give significant bottles context: where they came from, why they were acquired, what makes them unusual and how they fit within a considered collection.
If an enquiry ultimately results in a bottle passing from one custodian to another, we can facilitate that conversation discreetly. But the collection comes first; the transaction is secondary.
